Hari Sorry: Journos Round On ‘Sanctimonious Prig’

IN A LENGTHY apology published in today's Independent, columnist Johann Hari has admitted to lifting quotes and using the online pseudonym 'David Rose' to slander other journalists.

Hari apologised for doing "two wrong and stupid things" and outlined what he will do to gain atonement: voluntarily return his 2008 Orwell Prize, footnote all past articles, and take an unpaid leave of absence from the Independent to undertake a four-month journalism course. The columnist will not, however, lose his job at the paper.

While Hari clearly feels his admittance of guilt and period of retraining will be enough to regain the faith of his readers, other media talking heads are not so convinced.
